Ministries

Service

Jesus came as a servant, and he calls and gifts his followers to serve one another as well.  Service is a fundamental aspect of the healthy Christian life.  And it takes an army of servants, using their gifts and talents, to make a healthy church work. People entering a larger church sometimes feel they are unneeded. Not true!  Every follower of Jesus has a gift and a role to play in the local congregation.

Ways to Serve

Some volunteer positions are standing (permanent ongoing positions), and some are single-project opportunities.  For example, we need people for committees, for ministering, for ushering, for choirs, for nursery service, for children’s ministries, and for leading small groups.  We need tellers, financial and property administrators, painters, receptionists, camp counselors, swimming beach lifeguards, EMT’s during services, librarians, and Sunday school teachers.  This is just a brief list - it is by no means exhaustive.

A healthy church is a community of healthy Christians who look to serve their congregation in small but powerful ways each week.  We at SSBC encourage you to be a part of our service team.  Below is a list of ministries looking for people willing to serve and to make a difference.  Some positions may require an interview and/or you to be a member prior to service.
