Missions
King Jesus sends his followers into the whole world to disciple the nations. What could be better than sharing the greatest story ever told? We equip ourselves as a missions-sending fellowship through:
- Learning about missions
- Knowing our missionaries
- Praying for their work
- Supporting them
- Visiting and helping them
Activities
- MEET: Throughout the year visiting missionaries share with us on Sunday morning or in small groups or special events.
- LEARN: SSBC’s Disciple Training Institute offers a basic introduction to world missions. Contact Seth.
- PRAY: On the fourth Sunday of the month, we gather to pray for our missionaries specific prayer requests.
- TRAVEL: Every year, mission trips are organized to give people first-hand experience on the mission field.
- ADOPT: We encourage every household to adopt a missionary to correspond with and to uphold in prayer. Lisa Towle, our Missionary Contact Coordinator, would be glad to suggest a missionary for you to adopt.
- UNITE: Every October special guest speakers expand our global vision during our Missions Week. This is the time we each prayerfully pledge financial support to our missionaries for the coming year. Our missions budget is separate fromthe operations budget and is based upon the “faith promise” pledges received from the congregation during the October Missions Week coming October 23-30, 2011. - CARE: Read this week’s Missionary Focus to the right!
Perspectives Class
Get Threaded into the Story
Get threaded into the biggest story of all time. Perspectives will open the eyes of your heart with fresh knowledge and understanding of God’s unchanging purposes and why they’re relevant to your life.
You may never read your Bible in the same way when you experience how Jesus threads believers like you into His epic story. From Genesis to Revelation, from Abraham to today you’ll walk in the shoes of believers who have paved the way and set the stage to thread us into God’s unchanging promises and story.
There are endless opportunities to help complete the Great Commission. Getting threaded into the story is about discovering practical and strategic opportunities to leverage your passions, training and expertise for His glory at home or abroad.
