At South Shore Baptist Church we are committed to developing a unified church of people that are desiring to meet God in a corporate setting where the Word of God is proclaimed and Biblical principles of worshiping together are realized. Our vision is to create a tapestry of blended worship by weaving a variety of musical elements in a way that enables our church to unite in worship and glorify God.
The eclectic style of music at South Shore Baptist Church focuses on the glory of God and highlights songs emphasizing theologically rich text and singable melodies. The passion of this ministry is to build a sustainable worship culture by intentionally developing musical skills and hearts for worship beginning at an early age.
Below you will find a listing and information about specific opportunities to participate in the musical piece of the worship ministry. If you are interested in taking part, please fill out the Application for Worship Leadership Form, and submit to Jennifer Boel.
The Children’s Choir, available to students in Grades 1-5, was launched in 2005. In addition to learning songs, the children are being fostered in their faith and are given the opportunity to sing in worship services and additional events. Adults and Teen Assistants lead the Children’s Choir.
Register your children to attend choir.
Children’s Choir runs during the school year and meets in Room 9 during the Children’s Church time on Sunday morning.
The Worship Choir is an established, seasoned ministry of SSBC. Adults and Youth Group students are invited to participate. In addition to reinforcing musical skills and rehearsing the choral repertoire, there is a continued emphasis in the Choir family on developing a heart prepared for worship.
The Choir meets weekly from late September through early May.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights from 7:00 pm – 8:45 pm.
Do you have a gift to sing and never joined because you couldn’t come to one service or the other? Now we will have one worship service! Come participate in preparing to assist the church in being responders to God in song. A short interview and audition is required prior to joining Choir—do not let that deter you! Church membership required for adults. Contact Jennifer Boel if you are interested!
The Praise teams consist of vocalists and various instrumental combinations that lead both our worship services. It is not the role of the Praise Teams to simply sing and play songs, nor does the team exist to entertain the congregation. It is the role of the Praise Team to assist the congregation through the medium of music, to worship God.
